1. Who We Are
Check My Tracking (“CMT,” “we,” “us”) is a web-based analytics audit service operated at checkmytracking.io. We help website owners identify and fix issues in their Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager setups.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. This is used solely to create and manage your CMT account.
2.2 Google Analytics Data (Read-Only)
With your explicit consent, we request read-only access to your Google Analytics 4 properties through the Google Analytics Data API and Admin API. We access:
- Property configuration (timezone, currency, data retention settings)
- Data stream settings and measurement IDs
- Event names and counts (aggregate, not individual user data)
- Key event (conversion) configuration
- Traffic source and channel data (aggregate)
- Enhanced measurement settings
We never access individual user-level data, raw hit data, or personally identifiable information from your analytics.
2.3 Google Tag Manager Data (Read-Only)
With your explicit consent, we request read-only access to your Google Tag Manager containers through the Tag Manager API. We access container configuration, tag names, and trigger settings to audit your tracking setup. We never modify your GTM containers.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Audit generation: We analyze your GA4 and GTM configuration to produce an audit report with a health score and actionable recommendations.
- Account management: Your email and name are used to identify your account, deliver reports, and provide support.
- Service improvement: We may use aggregate, anonymized audit statistics (e.g., average scores across all users) to improve our service and produce industry benchmarks. No individual data is shared.
4. Data We Do NOT Collect or Store
- We do not store your raw Google Analytics data
- We do not access or store individual user sessions, events, or hits
- We do not collect your Google password
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties
- We do not use your data for advertising purposes
- We do not modify your Google Analytics or GTM settings
5. Data Storage and Security
Your account data and audit reports are stored in an encrypted PostgreSQL database (Neon). OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest and in transit. We use HTTPS for all data transmission. Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel only.
6. Google API Services — Limited Use Disclosure
Check My Tracking’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- We only use Google user data to provide and improve the audit functionality described in this policy.
- We do not transfer Google user data to third parties.
- We do not use Google user data for advertising or any purpose unrelated to the core audit service.
- We do not allow humans to read Google user data unless necessary for security purposes, required by law, or with your explicit consent.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your audit reports for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing support@checkmytracking.io. We will delete your data within 30 days of receiving your request.
8. Revoking Access
You can revoke CMT’s access to your Google account at any time by visiting Google Account Permissions and removing “Check My Tracking.” After revocation, we can no longer access your analytics data. Your existing audit reports will remain available until you delete your account.
9. Cookies
We use essential cookies only for authentication (session management). We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies on checkmytracking.io.
10. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, and port your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact support@checkmytracking.io.
